Communication is a big part of this role; many emails are shared daily for various elements.
As a maintenance assistant, I carried out a wide range of tasks, from:
Minor Carpentry, Ceiling repairs & replacement, some flooring repairs, door locks hinges & door furniture repairs, also repairing ward specific items such as chairs tables, patient own drug lockers, also high level cleans to many clinical areas & ceiling vents to all wards.
All tasks are carried out with the safety of everyone in mind, communication is key as you have to be very mindful of the enviroment, the condition of the patients & the risks involved.
Patient interaction is sometimes needed & felt this was key, as patients need to be reassured why you are there & what task you are going to carry out.
As a buyer I carried out a variety roles.
Raising requisitions and raising purchase orders on the database.
Cataloging items for future orders & price changes.
Stock checks yearly.
Sourcing products that were classed as stock items, this meant taking calls from end users & clarrifying thier requirements, then sourcing the product obtaing the best value for money, this was then input onto the database and made avaliable to the enduser.
Customer Service was key in this role, building up good customer relations was very important, this encouraged the end user to follow the correct process rather than sourcing products themselves.
I also built up a very good relation with many staff at Dorset County Hospital, this i really enjoyed as it made for better team work a smoother transition when talking to the staff / enduser.
This also gained respect which has certainly aided & followed me in my current role.
Working various areas of the store:
Everything revolves around exceptional Customer Service.
This was a role I really enjoyed as helping members of the public was key.
Shop floor dry grocery, keeping the shelves stocked and tidy, communicating with the customers to exceed their expectations.
Worked as part of a team, which created a great spirit, and this was felt by all. Also the ability to work on my own was key.
Stock control:
Systems based role, observing data from stock sales & waste, controlling the percentage of stock being ordered to maximise profit & minimise waste, teamwork & working on ones own was key.
Trainee Duty Section Manager.
Assisting in the running of the store, checking the staff were all okay & carrying the relevant tasks, keeping the reductions on track to minimise waste, communicating with the customers, guiding them to the section they require for the product in question, dealing with certain complaints, dufusing situations by listening to the customer & reassuring them that you can do everything to help even if the out come was not exactly what the customer was expecting. Again this was a strong point of mine, the ability to communicate & exceptional customer service.

I respect everyone and treat everyone the same I feel good communication is a key factor; if you communicate well, this resolves many issues I also think and prefer to talk face to face rather than send a chain of emails; this diffuses situations, installs trust, and respect, which in turn can get a result that everyone is happy with
I have a varied skill set where systems are concerned & can adapt quickly to many requirements
