I Started in the NHS as a modern apprenticeship on the wards in 1998.
I did my ODP training 2000, and for 22years i worked in the NHS in peterborough. I am a mum to 3 beautiful boys who are growing up too fast. During the pandemic I was re-deployed to ITU. This was the most challenging time, dealing constantly with unexpected events. I am a hard working and passionate Practitioner always wanting to give 100%. I understand the values of our frame work to our patient and staff and communicating effectively and openly with all members of the team and can ensure my working practice was always within the boundaries of my professional code of conduct. I am known for maintaining high standards of professional practice, following guidelines and consistently achieving high levels of clinical excellence.
I am currently a senior anaesthetic practitioner, I have 22 years of experience including many specialties . My job role plays a big complex role we deal with acute and sick patients. We have broad range of patients, adults, frail elderly to pediatrics and patients who have disability with any additional needs. This is a skilled area requiring attention to detail, technological knowledge and being a advocate for your patient.
Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and most importantly excellent communication skills, compassion, empathy and respecting for patient dignity.
My duties include preparation, maintenance, calibration of various anesthetic equipment, checking difficult airway and cardiac arrest equipment. Other preparatory measures include ensemble of fluid lines, drawing up anesthetic drugs and ensemble of invasive monitoring equipment such as arterial lines and cvp lines, checking arterial blood samples and safe checking of blood and clotting products for massive blood loss.
I also cover elective and emergency obstetric theatres. I am involved in assisting with spinal and epidural anesthesia and responding to emergency situation requiring GA or responding to major obstetric hemorrhage, cases involving premature deliveries, placenta abruptions or PPH. I also do a lot of bank shifts in maternity recovery. working as a recovery practitioner. I look after all the post-op obstetric women who have had to have caesarean sections or any other obstetric procedure needing anesthetic intervention. Giving them the correct pain relife needed and monitoring of mum and baby.
