Energetic, optimistic, driven with an outgoing personality. I'm a very sociable, approachable, and convivial person with a variety of interpersonal and professional skills. I appreciate offering advice to others and expressing my likes and dislikes to others whilst simultaneously gaining theirs. I enjoy working as part of a team and, through experience, have gained an efficient array of teamwork skills. I love helping people and this passion of mine motivated me to become a literacy leader at secondary school. This role entailed reading to and helping younger children with their literacy and inference skills. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience because not only was I helping young children to expand their knowledge it also broadened mine. I work well under pressure and am very resilient. Overall, I am a strong listener and a fast learner, who is an open-minded individual, that loves to unravel new concepts and is open to innovative ideas and constructive criticism.
This experience broadened my knowledge of the working world. It taught me to follow set guidelines, and I was able to learn good communication skills and how to promote good customer service by helping lost customers find certain items and clearing any queries they had. This not only taught me good people skills but also strengthened my memory and navigation skills, having gotten used to the store, and therefore I was able to find my way around it easily to help out any customers in need. I learnt organisation skills and creativity from filling and tidying the shelves to maintain adequate displays. I also learnt physical endurance from lifting heavy boxes and packs of items to restock the shelves. I also spent time at the till assisting and serving customers, which not only strengthened my memory as I had to remember the process of scanning the items and cashing in the money, but also taught me to be welcoming and friendly and pay attention to detail. When unboxing the deliveries and stocking the shelves, it was required for me to check the products for damage, which also required me to pay close attention to the details and ensure everything was presentable for the shelves. Working 9-5 for 5 days a week also taught me the importance of time management and punctuality. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, as it allowed me the freedom to develop independence and gain familiarity with workplace environments alongside an introduction to careers based within retail organisations.
I did work experience as a catering and staff assistant at Fun Valley. The experience taught me various skills, including following set guidelines, providing adequate nutrition for young children, and communicating with parents. Working alongside experienced staff within this workplace taught me many forms of communication skills, adapting my current skills in organisation and teaching me the importance of general cleanliness and hygiene. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, as it allowed me the freedom to develop independence and gain familiarity with workplace environments alongside an introduction to careers based within child entertainment organisations. It also taught me many valuable lessons such as the treatment and delivery of service to children, parents, and colleagues within the organisation as well as the importance of punctuality.
