Understands refinishing work including full shell peel sanding and complete repolishing before presenting the vehicle for audit. Also understands fettle work to ensure any necessary defects are removed before the vehicle leaves the paint shop. Has independently completed fettle work on special projects such as Valkyrie and Valhalla.
Has insight and has completed bespoke graphic application including preparation work, fine line masking, and using solvent base coat on graphic kits of different substrates including carbon fibre. Has also completed any necessary refinishing work once graphic kits are completed.
Worked in On-Wheels-Repair to understand how to prepare, paint and refinish complete assembled vehicles. Completed all necessary training records for that area and has a proven track record of completing jobs in a timely manner.
Understands the strict and necessary health and safety requirements of working within the paint environment including booth entry and exit rules, response to spills, PPE, evacuation procedure, first aid responders and nearest defibrillator and fire extinguisher locations. In addition also understands the importance of following environmental regulations such as waste management and segregation.
Spent some time working within paint engineering, and independently led a problem-solving project affecting warranty costs towards the company. Identified the root cause and put processes in place to eliminate the issue. In addition worked closely with senior paint engineers on a number of projects including primer trials, hardness checks, wave scans and painted multiple colour master plaques. Engaged in the development of new colours including application techniques and destructive tests. Worked and helped lead an additional problem solving project involving Valkyrie badge application.
