Summary

I am currently searching for a part time job in Retail. I am a hardworking, enthusiastic great member of a team and I believe that Retail based role is suitable for me to be able to expand my skills form working in various environments through voluntary work in addition to collaborating with a broad range of people. I reflect upon the experiences at school and current experiences including working in cafes, charity shops, community centres and seasonal work through giving up my time and volunteering. I use this as evidence for my ever-expanding range of skills.

Cafe Volunteer

  • I work hard to deliver a good customer experience by taking their orders with a friendly and dedicated attitude, serving various dishes and beverages, and managing the till.
  • I prepare the café space by cleaning tables and ensuring used dishes and waste are taken care of.
  • With this experience, I have learned to use equipment such as coffee machines, and modern digital tills.
  • As well as working within a café setting, I am devoting my time to serving a community and a charity that will make a difference to many people's lives, of all ages.

  • This is a multifaceted job that involves working on various area of the shop floor including restocking shelves, organising donations and serving customers at the till.
  • As well as the practical work around the shop this is also working for a charity dedicated to ending poverty and this means I can take real pride in the work that I do.
  • I have gained many skills while working here including operating a till, be sociable and interact with customers to deliver the best possible experience and being able to learn managerial skills that will benefit me greatly in later life.

  • In the Grassmarket Community I proudly serve and work with people who have been through adverse experiences such as poverty, homelessness, addiction or isolation.
  • I believe that not only does working with the Grassmarket Community enhance my experience working in hospitality but allows me to work with a broad range of diverse people and really learn about the difficult moments in their lives that make them special to work with.
  • My work at the community is mainly involved in hospitality at the moment giving me further experience in server roles. But the community is expanding as in the future I hope to work in other departments and learn new skills that greatly contribute to my experience.

  • I was tasked with setting up tables and stalls, and served drinks to former high school students, parents/carers and teachers as part of a high school leavers celebration.
  • I gave out brochures to anybody who was invited and set up and cleared away tables, glasses and waste as well as washing dishes or used items.
  • This shows my interest in working in customer-facing roles.

Accomplishments

  • F1 in Schools Entry Class, 2022-10-01, Schools in Scotland enter an F1 in Schools competition that tests the ability of people to work in an affective team. Our team won the title of fastest car in F1 at entry level for Scotland.
  • 50 Years Anniversary Workshop of Women's Liberation, 2024-06-01, I volunteered to take part in this conference because I'm interested in doing my part to ensure that we can live in a better world and create fairness and opportunities for everyone. I received a certificate for my participation.

Additional Information

I am planning to start university this year in September. Developing my skills is essential to make the most of my university experience as it would allow me to make valuable achievements towards my career goals. I am also a keen hobbyist as I enjoy drawing, reading, playing guitar, designing and building whatever fascinates me, and I enjoy socialising especially during teamwork as well as casual engagement.
