  • The title of this role is slightly misleading; it involved a mixture of business development, project management, technical sales, and aftercare responsibilities. I was tasked with growing a developing business sector (Data centres) in whichever way I saw fit, during the time in this role I successfully grew the turnover from £500k per annum to £26 million.
  • Negotiated contracts with vendors and subcontractors, achieving favourable terms and conditions.
  • Conducted detailed feasibility studies for proposed projects, assessing viability, potential return on investment, and environmental impact.
  • Introduced new business systems to support the large growth
  • Provided technical support to sales, consulants and end clients.
  • Managed the day-to-day activities of a small team of engineerings ensuring project delivery against quality, safety, cost and schedule targets.

  • This role involved deisgning off-site build pumping solutions for a large array of industries and end clients
  • Designed innovative product solutions, meeting client specifications and industry standards for quality and safety.
  • Reviewed customer specifications and EN codes to ensure the design was fit for purpose
  • Created quotes ensuring the targeted profit margains were always meet
  • Utilised CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for complex mechanical components. (Catia V5, solid works, Autocad & Revit)
  • Completed Design calculations using hand calculations, CFD and FEA (ANSYS)
  • Completed design revies both internal and external, and ran multifunctional DFMEAs
  • Led design review meetings, presenting concepts and progress to stakeholders, incorporating feedback into designs.
  • Mentored junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices in design engineering and project management.

  • This rule involved full engineering responsibility for a product group and production lines within the company.
  • The key responsibilities during this role included introducing processes at goods inwards, supplier development and audits, introducing Kanban-style systems for machine spares, equipment calibration, customer visits, and new product introduction.
  • Meet the manufacturing and quality engineering objectives set by the operations manager to achieve the company objectives and strategy.
  • Full responsibility for parts of the business's management system in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • Capacity analysis, SOPs, QCPs, and process control procedures for my product group and production lines.
  • Material and component compliance procedure in accordance with the PED.
  • Internal and external audit compliance.
  • Continuously review the line for lean manufacturing improvements.
  • To take an active part in all DFMEAs and PFMEAs.
  • Day-to-day dealing with customer technical enquiries, ensuring a timely response to closure.
  • Redesign of factory layout with efficiency gains of 25%.
  • Reduced the NRFT KPI by 40%.
  • Implementation of sub-assembly testing and PED requirement testing.
  • Significant involvement in moving casting tools from China back to the UK. Organising tool repairs, improvement modifications, and sign-off of all ISIRs once tools had been refurbished.
  • Developed a casting and injection moulding tool register with suppliers to record any usage, refurbishment, and modifications carried out.
  • Large involvement in the closer of in-house machine shop and movement to sub-contractors, managing sign off of all ISIR’s, supplier product training, spec’ing of new test gauges, etc.
  • During this time I also took part in the primary engineer scheme. This involved me going into a primary school and teaching basic engineering skills.

  • However the colleague that was training me relocated and I quickly took it upon myself to develop the maintenance side of the business and my main achievements are:

  • Production lead maintenance schedules for all capital equipment.
  • Complete SOPs for all TPM and PLM activities.
  • Ran a PAT testing schedule across the business.
  • Played a lead role in planning and execution of move from 4000 Sq.M to 12000 Sq.M premises.
  • Identification of all machine critical spares.
  • Introduction of machine downtime KPI’s.
