
Malkini is the first Sri Lankan Psycholinguist and the first Sri Lankan to pursue language processing in Sinhala. She is a BA English Honours graduate who graduated first in her class from the Department of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, in 2019. She has an MA in Psycholinguistics from the University of York, UK. Malkini is also a recipient of the GREAT Scholarship for 2022 awarded by the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign in collaboration with the University of York.
She is determined and ambitious, with special interests in Language Processing, Working Memory, Ambiguity Resolution in Language, and Prompt Engineering. She is currently conducting experiments on Sinhala Reflexive Processing. These are the first Language Processing experiments in Sinhala and add new information to the field of Psycholinguistics.
Malkini believes in volunteer work with non-native speakers of English from low-income families in Sri Lanka as a modest step towards ensuring that every child has access to knowledge and opportunity regardless of their financial status.
She is also an organized and dedicated Administrative Assistant with proven track record of providing exceptional customer service in fast-paced environments. Offering keen attention to detail and strong decision-making skills to manage multiple, concurrent tasks. Self-motivated work ethic to perform effectively in independent or team environments.
