Materials Development & Qualification Process Optimization Quality Assurance & Standards Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

  • Select, qualify, and characterize powder for Neutralised Electron Beam processes.
  • Study material behaviour for different process parameters.
  • Conduct mechanical testing (tensile, fatigue, fracture toughness) and microstructure analysis to validate components.
  • Develop Design of Experiments (DoE) to assess the process parameters impact on mechanical properties and build integrity.
  • Develop and refine electron beam process parameters (beam current, focus, beam speed, etc.).
  • Build and maintain process parameter databases and “process windows” for different alloys (e.g., Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 718).
  • Minimize defects unique to EBAM (Neu beam) such as lack of fusion, spatter, and residual stress-induced distortion.
  • Support transition from prototype builds to repeatable, production-scale EBAM (Neu beam) processes.
  • Implement in-situ monitoring techniques (melt pool monitoring, layer-wise imaging) to ensure build quality.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace, defence, and energy sector standards for post processing analysis.
  • Support part certification, including documentation, statistical process control, and qualification builds.
  • Perform root cause analysis of build issues such as porosity, cracking, or geometry deviations.
  • Work closely with operations to implement corrective actions and refine standard operating procedures.
  • Continuously improve cost-efficiency, throughput, and sustainability (e.g., powder utilization).
  • Lead data-driven process improvement initiatives using statistical analysis.
