Experienced in leading and coordinating care for individuals with complex health needs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care. Skilled in clinical assessments, care planning, and risk management, including writing detailed care plans and risk assessments. Senior Staff Nurse

St Georges University Hospital
London
09.2023 - 05.2024

Usually, being the first point of contact for patients when they enter the hospital, assess their clinical
need and urgency by taking vital signs and gaining a brief history to prioritise them. Caring for children
and their families on a short stay basis - ensuring they get assessed and the treatment that they need. If
it appears they need further management, admitting them onto the children's units and wards or liasing
as a member of the MDT for follow up and/or directing them to other providers for further care. Part of
the job role is caring for the acutely unwell child in a fast paced and quick thinking situation, working with
your colleagues, dealing with seriously ill and injured children, this helps to develop an ability to
recognise symptoms, make quick accurate judgements and administer relevant care. Other roles include
raising concerns to appropriate professionals and escalating concern, maintaining open and honest
communication and relationships with families. As a senior staff nurse, I was the co-ordinator of the
department, allocating staff members to areas, identifying concerns, being the mentor and role model to
junior colleagues and ensuring smooth running of the department on a daily basis.
