My name is Sarah Mullan, and I am a dedicated and passionate educator with three years of teaching experience in the UAE, having taught in Grade 4 and Grade 5. Throughout my time as a teacher in the UAE, I have had experience in planning high quality lessons for maths, science and English. I am experienced at creating engaging lesson plans, fostering a positive learning environment and utilizing teaching methods to enhance student learning. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) General Primary course with a specialism in Special Educational Needs, with the University of Cumbria, Lancaster. Prior to completing my PGCE, I graduated in Liberal Arts with a specialism in Physical Education, at St Mary's University College, Belfast. Throughout my 4 years of higher education, I was able to complete 5 different placements within schools, in both Northern Ireland and England, teaching all age grades. These placements have allowed me to gain experiences in a variety of primary and SEN schools and have enhanced my understanding of the capabilities required by educators. Within these placements, I had been involved in after school clubs, sporting events and theatrical productions. I have developed excellent team-working skills within the school environment and understand the importance of being approachable and resilient in working in education. With my background of teaching in the North of Ireland, England and the United Arab Emirates, I have an insight into teaching children of various cultures and nationalities. I hope to spread my excitement and passion for learning to young children in any setting in which I am involved. Throughout my school experiences I have become motivated by the belief that all children can be successful learners. I am passionate and skilled at motivating students through positive encouragement and reinforcement of concepts through classroom instruction and observation. I have developed the ability to be innovative and resourceful as an education professional. I understand the importance of quickly identifying and resolving issues within the classroom. I have worked in classes in which many children have struggled with the level of work. These experiences have allowed me to develop child-centred strategies and create differentiated sequences of learning for those children so that they progress and develop at their own pace. I have developed cooperative and professional relationships with parents, staff and administration. I feel confident in both working independently and as a member of the teaching team and I am well versed in classroom and online technologies.
