  • Primary responsibilities include interacting in a professional manner with customers to meet their needs and expectations, daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of the bar, drinks knowledge and awareness, making drinks including many classic and unique cocktails, serving food, working with supervisors to help train new members of staff, stock and stock rotation duties, cash handling and use of the till, working to improve efficiency of service, providing for the needs of large group bookings including coordinating with kitchen staff and other floor and bar colleagues, tray service and service of food, effective listening both when engaging with customers to ensure their needs are understood and met as well as with supervisors, managers and colleagues to aid in the effective and efficient running of the bar and floor area, preparing and serving afternoon teas to customers

  • Primary responsibilities are as bar tender and waitress
  • This is a village pub and guesthouse with a heavy emphasis on providing for the locals year round as well as catering to tourists, functions and large groups in peak seasons
  • The bar and restaurant are busy in peak seasons and working as part of a small team means being able to work all areas of the pub/restaurant effectively
  • As a general assistant my role included but was not limited to - serving behind the bar, making coffees and cocktails, taking and delivering orders of both drinks and food to tables, cleaning bar at opening and closing, cleaning public areas, cleaning rooms, occasional Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant shifts, managing money transactions with customers, counting and closing the till every night, counting the safe at open and close, stock rotation, reporting via email each night at close to management, full knowledge of the menu in terms of service and dietary requirements, ensuring this information reached the customers when necessary, providing and upselling specials on a daily basis, bar set up and clean down among many other things
  • This role required me to work autonomously on a regular basis and use initiative to both find tasks to do when it is quiet but also to ensure a relaxed and happy experience for all guests and regulars, this required flexibility and an ability to think on my feet on a regular basis.
