Sarah Kafke

I currently work in the friendly clinical coding team at the John Radcliffe hospital. My role includes reading patient information, extracting the relevant information, assigning the correct codes and recording these codes on computer systems.

To effectively do my job properly this means I engage with clinicians and ward clerks across the hospital. I am always respectful and polite when communicating with staff across the hospital. I understand the pressures many NHS staff are under and how important it is to have useful and helpful interactions with others.

My role as team leader involves supporting, encouraging and mentoring 9 members of staff. I have helped develop a hard working team who work together continuously supporting each other so that work is done effectively and fairly.

In addition to my team leader role I am also the Wellbeing Champion for the clinical coding department which has over members of staff. I hold monthly meetings on teams for all members of the team to attend if they want to. At these meetings I choose a topic to discuss and share relevant information and links t further information and resources.

Before working in the hospital I worked in Headington library so I have experience meeting people and helping them with their requests.
