As a Functional Skills English and Culture Tutor for the 2025 Gurkha intake into the British Army, I planned and delivered English lessons tailored to ESOL learners, focusing on practical communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I differentiated instruction to support varying proficiency levels and designed a bespoke cultural orientation programme to aid recruits in adapting to British values, customs, and societal expectations. My approach incorporated inclusive, learner-centred strategies and formative assessment to track progress and provide targeted support. Working closely with military staff, I helped recruits develop the language skills and cultural awareness necessary for successful integration into both the Army and wider UK society.
KS2 teacher with most of the time spent teaching upper KS2 children who was responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons encompassing all the national curriculum. Regularly conducted formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform teaching, whilst maintaining a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies. I was responsible for supporting children within my year group with SEN challenges before being asked to support the wider school with their support for SEN pupils.
