During my Animal Management education I have been taught and researched many aspects of Animal Management such as Veterinary Nursing, Animal Behaviour, Health and Safety, Nutrition and Business. I have undertaken a research project of my own - Whether guinea pigs have a treat preference. This involved obtaining guinea pig participants and devising a programme of activity in order to research my theory. After the programme was complete I analysed the results and came to a conclusion.
During my time at Call of the Wild zoo and Eden Oasis I have observed and handled animals such as lemurs, rabbits, skunk, tortoise, guinea pigs, pigs. I have cleaned out various animal habitats, helped animal personnel with their duties, interacted with members of the public.
At Call of the Wild zoo I undertook a session of target training for lemurs and servals where they would touch their nose to the end of a target stick and be rewarded with a treat. I also successfully helped to revamp the Flamingo enclosure by laying around 15 wheelbarrow loads of soil so that grass rolls could be laid on top.
