The reasons why I`m applying for a post in UK.
Working in UK is a great opportunity for me to upgrade my skills and knowledge in general medicine through working in a higher level Internal Medicine department. Also, I want to gain more knowledge and experience, especially in preferable departments like Emergency Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. My main target is learning and improving myself and find a better opportunity for my children to learn in a better education system.

Education& Qualification
I have completed MBBCH ( Primary Medical Qualification ) from Ain Shams University in 2015 with a grade of very good. Because of my keen interest in Internal Medicine and its allied specialities, I started my residency in GIT and Hepatology and already passed 1st part exam of GIT and Hepatology Master degree. After that I Preferred to start my new job as medical officer in Maldives to gain more money and start my PLAB2 journey which ended up to get GMC Registration with full license to practice.

Relevant experience gained

A) I have been working as a medical officer in Emergency and General Medicine rotationally for 2 years in Maldives.
Clinical skills that I got:
1- I can deal with critical situations as I worked in A&E in Maldives for 2 years and in Egypt Hospitals as well for 1 year as a primary health care physician (FY2)
2- I am an Advanced Life Support Provider and I have booked ATLS course.
3- I have developed very good clinical skills including history taking, full examination, primary survey, ECG interpretation, making protocol-based decisions and management of patient illnesses and diseases.
4- I am excellent in practical skills including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, surgical procedures as well as basic skills [ sutures, venipuncture, fundoscopy, otoscope, IV medications and fluids, urinary catheterization, ABG sampling (supervised), and endotracheal tube insertion (supervised) ]. I can ask for help when the situation needs more experience.
5- I have a good knowledge of clinical medicine,pediatrics and gynecology.
I am working 48 hours weekly and always willing to cover any shortages or accidental absence.

B) Before that I was working for more than one year as a gastro-enterology and hepatology resident.
Clinical skills that I got:
1- I developed more advanced skills such as performing ascites tapping and some paracentesis procedures (supervised), and got the chance to attend upper as well as lower gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures.
2- I was able to manage gastro intestinal and liver diseases including IBD, hepatotropic viruses, hepatic malignancy under supervision of the consultant.
3- At the same time I was invited by one of the GI and hepatology professors to work as an assistant in his private clinic where I got experience in many diagnostic approaches for most of Internal medicine cases and how to deal and manage patients according to updated guidelines. Also I was providing assistance for his lectures, research preparations and conferences that he was sharing in and arranging like United Conference of Hepatogastroenterology and Infectious Diseases ( UCHID).


  I understand the importance of continuing personal development and has attended many courses such as ACLS, clinical audit and governance as well as many modules from Doctors.net.uk. I have joined BMJ learning, Medscape, webmd and others in order to keep my knowledge up to date.

I have attended and participated in some relevant conferences like United Conference of Hepatogastroenterology and Infectious Diseases ( UCHID) with the related GI Endoscopy Training Center( 2018 ). Also I shared in Gastroenterology & Hepatology Endoscopy Workshop of Kasr Al-Ainy Teaching Hospital ( February 2019 )


  I do not have a formal qualification in medical teaching but I am conducting sessions to teach my colleagues about PLAB2 concepts and GMC ethical guidance. Additionally, I am arranging educational sessions to teach my nurse colleagues about different medical through presentations.

Clinical Governance and Audit

I did not Participate in clinical Audit but since I am registered in the UK, I have attended workshops about GMC Standards/Good Medical practice, NHS system, principles of clinical governance, requirements of Medical Appraisal and Revalidation, and I am eager for a chance to participate and apply what I have learned. I usually take initiatives to induce change to provide the best care quality, but unfortunately in either Egypt or Maldives, systems don’t support audits. However, I have done some changes in the place where I work to improve the quality of care to patients.


Using Information & IT
- I have a good knowledge about basic computer skills including Microsoft office and adobe photoshop.
- During my recent position in Thaa Atoll Hospital for the last 2 years, I gained IT skills relating to data handling, I have been working with an advanced IT national system which was made by Assandha medical insurance company, and my job as a medical officer includes clerking the patients,documentation using Microsoft office.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND TEAM WORKING:

- I am good at interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with both colleagues and patients, ensuring the satisfaction of the patients. Most of the time I have been picked to take over situations that have to do with
patient education, delivering bad news, or handling an angry patient.
- In my current job, I am a member in Cardiac Arrest team as well as Rapid Response Team which is also responsible for COVID suspected cases, collecting data, early intervention and how to prevent spread and impact of this infection in the population.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM SKILLS:
1-Learned to be aware of my limitations, to escalate and delegate whenever needed.
2-Learned to cope with the stress of facing the death of critically ill patients every day
and
1-sympathizing with their families and providing the needed support.
2-I worked as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
3-Learned how to proceed further in any case of vulnerable group abuse.
Risk Management
- I used to double-check what I am doing.
- I usually seek help or advice from others appropriately, knowing my limitations as a safe doctor and understand my duties and responsibilities.
- I usually encourage juniors to come to see me if they have problems or if they have made mistakes, show support towards them (rather than blame them) when they get things wrong to ensure that mistakes do not happen again.
- We used to identify and report any significant mistakes or near misses and raised the issues to our consultants and managers when appropriate.
