I have extensive experience as a vision mixer across all genres of multi camera production. I specialise in live events like the Coronation, the Queen’s funeral and royal weddings, live music, concerts and live drama and I also have a lot of experience of training vision mixers and running vision mixer skills workshops. I have been the treasurer and chairman of the Vision Mixers’ Guild and have been a key member of that organisation for over 20 years.
I worked on all output from BBC Pebble Mill studios - mostly live daytime - and all OB’s. I also did various attachments to BBC Scotland and BBC Television Centre. I also set up and ran various training initiatives for all studio crafts, including an original play in front of a live audience which I production managed and produced.
I did 6 months training at Television Centre in London, followed by 12 months as a trainee at BBC Manchester studios. I worked my way up to senior staff vision mixer at the same time as getting married and having 2 children.
I worked on all programs from BBC Leeds doing tape & grams/audio assistant duties, floor managing, graphics and I also did a stint as a researcher on a special AIDS project.
I worked on all output from BBC Norwich covering shifts on live regional news programs as a floor manager, graphics operator and tape & grams audio assistant.
I worked on various news stories in the South West for The Daily Mirror, The Sun and The Western Daily Press. I had photographs printed in each of those newspapers and followed stories as varied as the royal family at Badminton horse trials, at Cowes week and the queen mother on her 80th birthday gardens tour. I photographed celebrities and covered stories as diverse as a new born ape at Bristol Zoo and the minister of defence firing a laser gun. I was a member of the NUT

I have passed Competant Crew and Day Skipper practical and theory with RYA
I achieved a 1st when I passed my Advanced Driving Test with IAM
I am passionate about suicide prevention and committed to do my bit to help create a suicide safer community. I have been a trustee for Goodwill in Action to Prevent Suicide charity and I am currently a volunteer for Sunflowers Suicide Support charity.
I have done several courses with PABB and attended several PABBS conferences and National Suicide Conference.
I am a qualified ASIST trainer and I have attended ASK course through Livingworks as well as other online training courses teaching suicide intervention skills.
I have completed Sunflowers’ Befriender training and have acted as Befriender to 3 bereaved families. I have also been a Befriender for AGE UK.
