Santiago Houghton

I am a motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail. Through modules in accounting and economics I have developed a robust understanding of finance and accounting practices. I am skilled at analysing big data and presenting it intuitively to aid communication with stakeholders. During my time as a teacher and coach I have demonstrated excellent team working skills, which I have built on at university in group assignments. In my role as a coach I have enjoyed motivating and inspiring others, promoting diversity and inclusion to deliver high quality outcomes. While I thrive in team environments I am self sufficient and confident working independently.

Work experience has given me key insight into how some of the worlds largest firms are run and what its like to be a top professional. These include:

• Latham and Watkins: I was the first person to complete work experience at L&W Manchester, shadowing managers across; legal, accounting and audit, as well as shadowing the Director of Technology for the Middle East.
• Pinsent Masons: I actively participated in two virtual work experience weeks where I engaged activities in discussions around cooperate, contract, criminal and family.
• Young Professionals: I took part in many programs where I was introduced to people from firms such as; Browne Jacobson, IBM, EY, PwC and Capgemini.

I have undertaken voluntary and community focused roles across school, sports clubs and university.

• DofE: I volunteered at school as a coach in hockey
• Local Clubs: I was a coach at my local hockey and cricket clubs
• University: I am sport sec for my hall of residence. This involves managing the 350 students involvement in sport while living in halls. It involves working closely with Loughborough Sport staff and other sport secs to ensure the smooth and efficient running of events.

Through my volunteering I ave further developed my interpersonal and public speaking skills.

• Rugby (Commentator for fixtures at University, and a qualified coach)
• Hockey (County level, back to back Champions of the NW)
• Cricket (School and Club Captain, and a qualified coach)
• Photography, Videography and Cinema (Particularly the works of Chris Nolan)
