• Regularly audit and monitor the permit to work system to ensure strict compliance with company policies, as well as regulatory and client requirements.
• Maintaining an organised system for tracking valid work permits, including their issuing, extensions, and any associated changes. Ensure that permits are closed promptly and accurately upon the completion of tasks.
• Facilitate effective communication among project teams, permit acceptors, isolating authorities, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of permit requirements and safety protocols.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all permit-related activities, including permit issuance, extensions, closures, and audits. Generate reports and summaries as required for management review.

Project Description : MASHCo Depot Transformation Project at Manchester Airport, UK

1. Health & Safety Leadership

• Promote a culture of safety-first thinking across all active sites. • Act as a point of contact for site-based H&S issues, offering guidance to site managers and operatives. • Champion continuous improvement through coaching, engagement, and proactive safety leadership. • Deliver site-specific inductions, toolbox talks, and briefings for operatives and subcontractors.

2. Health & Safety Systems & Documentation • Maintain and monitor site health and safety documentation, including RAMS, COSHH assessments, incident logs, and inspection records. • Support the development and implementation of internal H&S policies and procedures • Maintain Permit to Work systems and ensure relevant controls are followed (e.g. hot works, confined space). • Record and report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; assist in accident investigations and reporting under RIDDOR. • Ensure all site safety information is recorded accurately and retained for compliance and audit readiness.

3. Site Inspections, Audits & Compliance

• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits, raising observations and tracking corrective actions. • Conduct verification of subcontractor RAMS and compliance with company safety standards. • Monitor site welfare, signage, access routes, and emergency arrangements. • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and third parties during audits, visits, and consultations.

4. Training & Competency

• Support the coordination of training schedules for site-based staff and contractors. • Deliver basic health & safety awareness sessions and highlight areas for training improvement. • Maintain accurate training records for operatives, including mandatory qualifications (e.g. First Aid, Manual Handling).

5. Project Support & Planning

• Assist with pre-site setup and mobilisation from a safety perspective, ensuring documentation and arrangements are in place. • Contribute to project risk assessments and work closely with operational staff during key project phases. • Offer H&S support during tendering, design, and delivery phases, as required by the SHEQ Manager.

6. General Duties

Project Description : Offshore Submarine Power Cable Installation for the production of 150kV Export Cable, Viana do Castelo, Portugal

• Proactively communicate relevant HSE alerts, information and themes to assist the workforce in a better understanding of relevant hazards and safe practices;
• Review the work permits submitted by Contractors on site to ensure compliance with procedures;
• Conduct frequent surveillance in the field to observe work activities and address unsafe behaviors and conditions when needed;
• Coordinate and ensure new project employees, contractors and visitors are given site specific HSE orientations as required;
• Attend and actively participate in various HSE meetings and communicate relevant information to project team members;
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours at site and utilize STOP WORK AUTHORITY as appropriate;
• Prepare and deliver safety training presentations to project team members and contractor workforce as needed;
• Ensure compliance with HSE processes and procedures during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities;
• Ensure close-out of all project HSE documentation and prepare records retention in accordance with company guidelines;
• Participate in development of HSE project Lessons Learned as appropriate;
• Provides guidance and direction during emergency situations in particular relating to fire response, casualty management and rescue and safe procedures for controlling and containing accidental releases, including unintended leaks, spills, discharges, and emissions;
• Management, inspection of all measurement equipment used for supporting operations - including portable gas detection equipment, etc.;
• Conducts regular and planned emergency exercises and contributes to debriefing to define corrective actions;

• Assist in accident/incident investigations and support workplace risk assessments where required;

• Management/Coordination Permit to Work (PTW) system:

• PTW Initiation, Issue to Performing Authorities, Supervision of Work, Close Out of PTW´s and Hand Back to operations of equipment etc.;
• Managing the interface with those completing the work, other contractors and where the Control of Works activities are run simultaneously to routine operations & any other relevant BP staff.
• Monitor and Control of the BP safe system of work required by the Confined Spaces Regulations and Hot works Regulations;
