Samuel Oakes

I am a postgraduate in History from The University of Leeds. Through a combination of academia, work experience and extracurricular activities, I have developed strong analytical, problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills. I am a determined, driven person with a strong work ethic and positive can-do attitude. I have strong communication skills, both written and verbal; and pride myself on my negotiation skills and commercial acumen. Through my sporting achievements, I developed team building and leadership skills and a very approachable, collaborative style.

Co-Founder of Music events business, September 2019 - June 2022

• Collaborated with friend in the development of a music events business that focused on Techno events around the Liverpool area.
• My focus was on the commercial side of the business (the other co-founder focussed on music). Responsibilities included: finding event locations, negotiating with venues and other DJs, marketing the event, developing ticket pricing strategy; and logistics management.

Volunteer in programme teaching English - IVHQ Bali July, August 2019

• Taught English to local children for 5 week period.
• Travelled extensively in Bali and surrounding islands.

• Represented Cheshire U14, U16, U18 at rugby union.
• Played academy rugby at Sale Sharks from age 13 to 18.
• Played rugby union at The University of Leeds.
• Represented Cheshire County Cricket from age 12 to 15.
• Achieved 2:1 in Creative Writing module at The University of Leeds.
