Work history

Assistant Teacher

Windmill 21 Primary School
Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire
2024.06 - 2024.06
  • I spent 5 days working as an assistant teacher of a year 5 class at a primary school, in which I learned about the best ways that you can engage an audience that you want to teach about something. This allowed me to practice my explanation skills with subjects like maths and science, which has translated into some of the presentation skills that were necessary for some of the school societies that I help run.

Basketball Referee

The Harlow Hawks' Junior Central Venue League
2023.11 - 2026.03
  • From learning to volunteering, and finally working part-time, refereeing basketball in age groups varying from 8 to 18 has provided me with the resilience needed when trying to get a job done. When everyone has a different opinion, refereeing teaches you that you can not please everyone, and instead, you have to just stick with your intuition. This necessary confidence has also translated to other factors of my life, so that I do not disregard my own judgement.

Other interests

  • Society President - The applications involved in applying for the Engineering Society President involved a taster presentation on yourself and a field of engineering you enjoyed. After acquiring the role, I have made it my duty to showcase the wonders of engineering on a chill, weekly basis, in both practical and theoretical manners. It also allows me to present on more abstract, challenging concepts that I have grown an affection for, particularly in Chemistry and Physics.
  • School Music Bands - Playing in numerous school bands, including both jazz and orchestral genres, has taught me about collective responsibility and cooperation with others.
