Work history

Recovery Worker

Bridge Substance Misuse Programme
2024.02 - Current
  • Providing an empathetic, non-judgemental space for individuals to access support for their recovery from addiction and to address other aspects in their lives that they might be struggling with too, such as housing, socialising and mental health.
  • Creating and facilitating groups and interventions that offer members support from both staff and other members around specific topics. For example, this includes groups such as our Small Goals group which helps members take manageable steps towards more precise and achievable goals, and Relapse Prevention which encourages members to reflect and learn about their own personal addiction and recovery so they can explore what will aid them on this journey.
  • Completing triage's, screening calls and inductions to assess the risks around individuals becoming members and to inform us on how best to support them. This ensures Bridge stays a safe space for those seeking support in their recovery and that we're able to deliver personal support that reflects what each member needs.
  • Working closely with other services in the community through signposting, referrals and organised drop ins to ensure all members receive the relevant support they need.
  • Working closely with volunteers to deliver our service. Ensuring volunteers are adequately trained by supporting them with any issues around training material and having them shadow aspects of my job that they are interested in participating in. I also support volunteers in their daily roles by helping them create a plan for their tasks in the morning and regularly checking in with them throughout the day.
  • Maintaining confidential records and following safeguarding procedures to ensure sensitive information is handled in line with GDPR and vulnerable individuals receive the support and care they require.
