Sam Guthrie

A hybrid role between business performance and athlete coaching.

In this role I am exposed to all levels of business, from floor level to investor conversations. I am helping lead the growth from an early stage start-up to a successful business operating across multiple continents.

Roles included:

• Owner of the Sales and Customer Pipelines.
• Owner and Creator of business Strategies.
• Owner of major projects. Both in the UK and the US.
• Develop a global reach for the business across different markets.

Whilst in this role I have accomplished:

• Growing the business pipeline to over 7 figures of potential revenue over three years.
• Closed multiple large scale deals and partnerships.
• Launched the business in all major regions globally.
• Generated substantial revenue both in B2B, B2C and SaaS models.
• Created a up sell programme to further maximise potential revenue.
• Navigated the business out of early stage start-up to maximise growth.
• Engaged with major elite athletes to grow brand awareness.
• Developed major strategies to navigate the business.

Voluntary and Freelance work.

I started working with Okkulo because I seen the power of the product first hand. This shows in the amount of voluntary work I have done, however I have managed to learn new things and meet some great people along the way.

During my time I:

• Completed partnerships with big companies.
• Worked within a team to research and develop a product.
• Connect with and talk to noteworthy potential clients in the sporting world from all across the globe and form relationships with these people.
• Developed new business opportunities by effectively engaging international corporations with product lines.
• Work with high performance athletes in the, UFC, Premier League, EFL.
• Study and analyze footage to show where we could make an impact.

After completing my scholarship I was offered a two year professional contract, unfortunately injury plagued this period and I was unable to perform on the pitch as well as I would have wanted. This however gave me the time and drive to succeed more off the pitch.

This time allowed me to:

• Maintained strict compliance with nutrition and training advice.
• Work more within the community to interact with fans.
• Begin my coaching journey completing my Level 2 from the FA

During this time I was a Goalkeeper Academy player at Huddersfield Town Fc. This was the most successful period of the clubs Academy history winning three competitions and getting to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.

This period granted me the opportunity to learn lots of skills such as:

• Being punctual.
• Working in a high performance team environment.
• Leading the group.
• Working in meetings with peers to critically analyze performance and find solutions on how to succeed.
• Work inside the community on match days to interact with fans and better their experience.
• Adapted my play style to best suit team and optimize results.
• Applied discipline and sense of responsibility toward all team and personal activities.
• Helped new foreign team members acclimate to procedures, collaborate with fellow athletes and enhance competitive performances.
