Skills

  • Structural skills (developed through essay writing) The Questions which I was tasked with required using historical knowledge to answer what was specifically being asked Such essays also needed to be built in a clear way which makes you argument easy to follow
  • Analytical skills developed through essay writing While writing essays history students are expected to come to their own conclusions with the information they are provided with Data Analysis was also necessary for projects undertaken Vital in the workplace as employees need to be able to interpret information independently which prevents reliance on the conclusion of others
  • Working with others Throughout my degree on numerous occasions, I have had to work within a group setting on different projects As part of our preparation, it was necessary to delegate tasks for each person, deciding which areas of the project preparation would be best suited for individual members
  • Presenting skills I had to undertake various group projects over my three years of studying BA History It was of great importance that my public speaking was clear, as well as making sure what I was saying was understood by those to whom I was speaking

Interests

I have a keen interest in playing sports. Both at school and during my time at University I belonged to a football team. I enjoy teamwork where everyone strives for the same goals. During sixth form I completed The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition that showed working together was vital to achieve success and also individual skills could be fully recognised through delegation and strategies employed. I also love skiing and running and participated in school athletics. In addition, in my free time I enjoy reading and have recently taken up golf.
