  • Handled Zone-30 of SDIS package 4 irrigation project at gadag district, Karnataka, India. under supervision of Senior Engineer Mr. Rammohan.
  • Zone-30 comprises of construction of a sump and pump house of capacity 1.35 million liters. Insight gained by dealing with complex site conditions like highly expansive soil and accumulation of ground water and to stabilize structure we constructed raft foundation and shear walls for sump .
  • Produced 2D and 3D CAD drawings and bill of materials.
  • Tracked project delivery with MS project and updated the material procurement and consumption, equipment and asset usage details using MS Excel to ensure key milestones and targets achieved.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF MECHANICAL CHARECTERSTICS OF GGBS-SUGARCANE BAGASSE ASH-GLASS POWDER BASED GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE


About Project:

  • The main objective of the project is to increase the strength of geopolymer concrete without affecting workability and to increase the sustainability.
  • Replacing cement fully by sugarcane bagasse ash by varying percentages of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%.
  • Remaining is filled with GGBS and Glass powder.
  • Sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide are used as binders.

Research parameters:

  • The specimens are tested for-

1)Compressive strength

2)Flexural Strength

3)Workability

4)Water Absorption

5)Dry density

Research outcomes:

  • The maximum compressive strength obtained is 64.44 MPa at 15% replacement of SBA and 10% replacement of glass powder.
  • The maximum flexural strength obtained is 6.47 MPa at 15% replacement of SBA and 10% replacement of glass powder.
  • The maximum water absorption is 3.64 and observed at 0% replacement of SBA and 15% replacement of glass powder. The minimum water absorption is 1.19 at 15% replacement of SBA and 10% replacement of glass powder.
  • Though the target strength is achieved, it has been observed that the workability has decreased while sugarcane bagasse ash increased. Therefore, it is suggested to use admixtures to improve workability.

  • Estimated costs for various investment options using RICS 2023 standards.
  • Proposed options are Refurbishment, Demolition and partial demolition.
