I am a first-year law student and dedicated athlete who moved independently from Canada at the age of 17 to pursue my ambition in soccer. This opportunity was one I embraced with conviction, determined to make it succeed. After spending over 18 months in the Netherlands, I was recruited to continue my journey in the United Kingdom. From arriving in the Netherlands for my first training session, no understanding of the language, feeling out of place. I have grown so much as a person mentally which has allowed me to obtain these new opportunities.
Alongside my athletic commitments, I chose to pursue legal studies—an interest shaped both part by my family’s strong connection to the legal profession, and also my own growing curiosity. Balancing soccer and academics has required a high level of discipline, resilience, and time management.
Living and competing across different countries has exposed me to diverse cultures, perspectives, and working environments. These experiences have taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, and understand how expectations evolve at higher levels of performance.
Overall, this journey has been both challenging and transformative. It has reinforced my determination not only to succeed as an athlete, but also to build a meaningful and successful career in my sport and legal career.
