In Feb Selectrical unfortunately went under. I then decided to take the leap an be my own boss. I've now worked on all jobs in every aspect of electrics from domestic, Led swaps, industrial works and big testing projects for student accommodation. I had an apprentice work for me for 5 years and another sub contractor for 2 years. In this time working for myself i under stood the roles of organising sites, materials and working with other trades to keep a happy and safe site. I've completed a full fit out of a Sainsbury's employing over 6 men at certain points of the job, I've supervised a school extension project which lasted over 20 weeks overseeing 12 men and ordering material also.

After qualifying a year later i moved to Selectrical as i wanted to gain more experience in all aspects of electrics. At Selectrical we were working in commercial properties working on big supermarkets such as Asda & Lidl. Our work consisted of lighting swaps upgrading the current dated halogen lights to new LEDs. we would have a time limit or date on which we had to swap every light in the building so the client could carry on operating whilst the works were been carried out.

Started my career mainly based in West Yorkshire working on domestic properties through out my apprenticeship. Our daily jobs usually consisted of full house rewires. been the apprentice of the team my task was preparing the house for the team leader i.e unloading the van, moving furniture and dust sheeting the house. After my first 2 years I was at the stage of wiring house's within the day. In this line of work we gained a lot of speed as well as adhering to the current standards as the properties were occupied house's so we needed to get power back on before the end of the day. I qualified in 2015 and was then giving my own team of lads and a van to complete my own jobs as team leader.
