Job overview

My responsibilities at Barclaycard include:

  • Growing Barclaycards ISV (Integrated Software Vendor), Platform and Agency partnership channel in line with the businesses overall strategy.
  • Driving new merchant acquisition via the partnership channel by defining and implementing a successful go to market strategy for each partner.
  • Lowering attrition by enabling key partner functionality to resolve any product gaps and win share of wallet from competitors.


In my role I have successfully identified, prospected and launched key partnerships via; my existing network of partners, outbound prospecting (via channels such as LinkedIn) and networking at industry events.


Following the launch of new partners, I have successfully created and executed against an agreed go to market strategy and KPI's with each partner to drive merchant acquisition and maximise the growth opportunity of each partnership.


I have a strong internal network of colleagues which enables me to align internal colleagues directly to their counterparts within the partners business. This reduces friction between the businesses and deepens the relationship across commercial, product, technical and senior management teams, leading to a successful, stable, long lasting relationship.


Commercially I have consistently delivered on; my net income target (tracking to exceed my '23 target: £395K), grown my partner portfolio by new partner acquisition YoY and delivered on partner enablement initiatives giving my sales colleagues the tools they need to win new business in open market. All objectives have also been carried out with control mitigating unnecessary risk or reputational damage to the business.


Being a senior member of the team, I am also mentoring a number of colleagues ensuring the team is continually developing and growing. I also represent partnerships in a number of internal forums with senior management ensuring partnerships has a voice and feeds into the wider payments businesses overall strategy.

My responsibilities included:

  • Managing and growing a portfolio of Worldpay UK's key partnerships, including the largest revenue generating partner and largest distribution partner in the UK.
  • Educating and embedding partner propositions into the wider sales, product and strategy teams to unlock additional income opportunities.
  • Driving merchant acquisition and reducing merchant attrition via partnership initiatives.


I formed strong relationships with each partner by having a deep technical and commercial understanding of each individual business model and proposition, allowing me to uncover growth opportunities and relay these back to senior stakeholders within the business to gain by in and deliver against.


After delivering on numerous successful partner campaigns, I was asked to share my experience on a global colleague call to share best practice and educate the wider business on what was working well in the UK. This elevated my position and enabled me to be at the forefront of a number of key initiatives such as managing the first partner through Worldpay's latest Android SDK product and enabling the Worldpay Business Finance product through my partner channel.


These key partnership initiatives ensured Worldpay's partnership channel consistently delivered as the growth area for the UK business.

My responsibilities at Verifone consisted of:

  • Managing relationships and growing revenue from a variety of
    merchants and partners ranging from SME merchants with basic payment requirements to strategic partners with complex needs.
  • Supporting the adoption of new Verifone products into the UK market.


I successfully launched the first AliPay enabled semi-integrated payment terminal on the Verifone's Ocius gateway. This solution unlocked a large share of wallet within the
tourism sector for partners and merchants alike, winning high ATV tourist destinations such as Bicester Village,
All England Lawn Tennis Club and The Tower of London.


Sourced and launched with a pilot merchant in the unattended space on the Ocius gateway for the first time in the UK. This solution allowed key partners to grow within the unattended sector and also gave Verifone national press coverage with the launch of a fully cashless unattended
laundromat.


The experience gained at Verifone was invaluable and put me in good steed to pursue a career in payments.
