I continued to work as a part of the business, growing and developing it on a part time basis and then went full time for a year to investigate the long term viability of the business.

Senior Project Engineer – Community Information Systems

  • Working in a project role to deploy a new Community Information and electronic patient record system across Kent. Setup and deployment of approximately 3000 Samsung tablet devices to community nursing staff and deploying software and training across the county.
  • My role was initially technical support, based at the William Harvey Hospital, providing support of all clinical and non-clinical software systems as well as all IT hardware across the site.

IT Systems Administrator

  • My role at Planit involved support for approximately 250 staff across 5 sites in the UK as well as France and the Netherlands. Support included Cisco IP Telephony and MPLS, Desktop and Server builds and maintenance, tape and CPS backups, Domain and network administration as well as Sharepoint and Dynamics GP support.
  • Other duties included hardware and software purchasing, fixed asset auditing, technical documentation and report writing. Technical support was provided via phone, email and remote assistance tools such as GoToAssist as well as on-site support for head office staff. Was made redundant due to the Head Office Closing following a Merger.

IT Services Team Leader

  • Responsible for the day to day running of a busy IT department, leading and managing projects and responsible for the IT Services budget. Managing a team of 4 to provide software, hardware, network and telephony support to a 6th-form College over 2 sites.
  • Projects included Windows 7 deployment, Server upgrades to 2008, VMWare migration, IP telephony and Wireless network deployment. New desktop and server image builds, software packaging and deployment using SCCM for zero touch installation. Product support lead for all engineering CAD\CAM software and Music Technology software.

IT Support Analyst, IT Project Manager

  • Starting off as an IT support Analyst, I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the department and technical support to the head office directors and staff. I was responsible for all IT related procurement and liaison with vendors and 3rd party suppliers.
  • Moving into a Project Management role, I was involved with the roll out of a Time and Attendance system using biometric hand scanners. I also managed the opening of new offices and new contract startups as well as working with other members of the project management team on ongoing helpdesk and new business startup projects.
