Ruqia Mohamad Ali

I am a motivated, highly aspirational and determined individual who is willing to challenge the faults of society and make an impact, this is what has led me into a future career of law. I enjoy attending an extensive variety of debating classes - particularly those on the matter of law, ethics and international relations. I find that exploring and engaging with others' views towards controversial topics such as prisoners voting rights, rape and the death penalty is stimulating. I have a great passion for politics and have enjoyed attending multiple events held by great politicians, global theorists and academics - including the very honorable Paul Tucker and the former house of commons speaker, Sir John Bercow. During my secondary years, I had the opportunity of becoming an Anne Frank ambassador. Speaking to a broad and diverse audience has really helped my communication skills and has boosted my confidence. During my time as ambassador, I further developed my organisation skills and practised time management under stressful conditions. I believe the skills I have attained will benefit my professional attitude immensely and that it has made me excel further in becoming a better daughter, a better student but most importantly a better being. I also had the incredibly honourable opportunity to attend the Oxford John Locke Humanities conference in the summer of 2021.
