Additional Information

I also helped in caring for my grandmother who had Alzheimer’s and polymyalgia and was bedridden for the last year and half of her life. I would help feed her, wash her hair, paint her nails and help her to get comfortable. My nan loved to paint, read and play bingo before her illness so I made sure to still do these things with her even on her bad days as it would help bring her out of herself. I also help care for my mum on her bad days who has fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis, I help her wash and dry her hair, making meals, taking medication and whatever else she needs on bad days. I feel I am very compassionate and like to take care of people and help where I can. I treat people how I would like my family to be treated and I have a very caring nature.

Why I would like a job in supporting people

When I was growing up my mother was a carer for my grandfather who was blind and had cancer in his final two years, I used to go with her everyday to help and I feel this contributed to how I feel about caring for people. It was very hard for my mum as she also cared for my nan who has multiple illnesses and I remember people saying why did she take on so much and her reply was, they took such care of me when I was a child and growing up so now I am just repaying them by caring for them and that has stuck with me so that is why I would like to take care of others.
