A student at a Russel Group university, diligent organisational skills, persistent in all areas of my studies. Able to carry out detailed and extensive research by my own means, and able to write in an academic style in three languages. I am independent, and constantly seeking opportunities to practise my languages, in and outside of university.
I worked at Polpeor Cafe for 4 years. I was able to work well within a team, often providing leadership under stressful conditions. I am able to work well under pressure, often serving multiple tables as well as dealing with seating customers, working in the kitchen and serving at our take-away booth. I learnt how to communicate clearly with others that I worked with in order to maintain an efficient work environment and keep customer service at an outstanding level. I am able to deal with customers in a respectful, friendly manner, and deal with disputes in a polite manner. After this cafe closed, I transferred to Kynance Cafe, (run by the same family) in which I alternate between working on the till , therefore dealing with a large number of people, and working in the kitchen.
As a language student, I retain a current B2 level in Spanish, and an A2/B1 level in French Languages have allowed me to improve my communication skills, especially when I was not especially confident in these languages, I persisted and found a way to communicate with another person I have also learnt to be patient and persistent as languages require constancy in which I had to adapt my life in order to see improvement Languages have enabled me to be more culturally aware of topics that otherwise, I would have no knowledge about My course looks at Latin America, North America, Africa and Europe, allowing me to gain a greater depth of not just linguistic issues, but also social, political and economical issues in these parts of the world During my modules, I have learnt to read and think critically of modern and historical texts and write in an academic style I have also learnt translating and interpreting skills, which further improve my communication and public speaking skills, both of which are vital in the modern workplace I have also started to learn Catalan, meaning that I can gain another linguistic and cultural perspective on the world Especially as Catalan is not commonly spoken by non-native speakers, yet is a rapidly growing language, my language skills will be in increasing demand
