Working at The Haven Cafe for 3 years has given me great experience in hospitality. I have gained many skills as listed previously which would make me perfect for this job. I am able to pick up new skills very quickly, making me a great employee. Working in such a small but busy cafe has given me the skill to keep calm in a hectic work environment. I am able to help with serving food, working in the kitchen (whether it is to do with food preparation or cleaning utensils) and keeping the place of work up to the standard of cleanliness that is expected by customers. I work in an efficient way which I believe is another strength of mine. I am a dedicated employee and will be as flexible as I can be with respect to shifts. I will always be willing to cover a shift if needed.
In 6th year, I was chosen to be a House Captain. This helped me gain leadership skills as I had to make decisions on certain things to do with the school and the pupils within. It also helped with my organisational skills as I planned many different events for the school including St Andrews Feast day (bake sale and face painting), S5 and 6 ceilidh and S3 and 4 dodgeball competition to raise money for charity. These took a lot of planning and organising as I had to find people to help out with these events, gather the means for each event and sorting out timings of the events.
