Over the past 10 years I have worked as a contracted Project Engineer for Magnox. In February 2024 I accepted a staff Senior Project Engineer position within the team having carried out Senior duties for a number of years.

Responsibilities

• Appointed Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) across multiple projects with responsibility for maintaining compliance with site license conditions, S-414 and CDM, spanning the project lifecycle.
• Other NRE duties include: -

- Production of plant documentation such as modifications, strategy's and reports.

- Management of Design Change Requests (DCR).

- Production and review of Quality Plans.

- Compliance with Environmental Health and Safety Legislation.

- Stakeholder engagement.

• Appointed Commissioning Lead , Managing commissioning of plant to ensure all design and safety functional requirements are met as well as all relevant testing standards.

KEY EXPERIENCE

• 9 Years experience as a contracted Project Engineer within Magnox working on various projects and disciplines across multiple sites.
• I have been heavily involved in commissioning plant throughout my career. For the past 5 years I have held Commissioning Lead Authorisation at Magnox to which I have lead commissioning at both Hinkley and Chapelcross for the Modular Active Effluent Treatment Plants.
• Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) I currently hold the Authorisation as NRE at Magnox, this role involves management of multiple projects from concept through to end of life, ensuring compliance with Safety case and Site License conditions.
• Principle Design Assistant, duties include: - plan, manage, monitor pre-construction activities across assigned projects, ensuring health and safety standards and mitigating risk during design where possible.

Responsibilities

• Manage relocation of the Dumfries production line to Haslingden.
• Manage departmental budgets, forecast spend and capital expenditure.
• Drive new line improvements program and develop new maintenance strategy.
• Manage department resource including contractors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 9 engineering personnel.
• Develop critical spares inventory, introduce condition monitoring and planned preventative maintenance to the process.
• Implement energy saving measures factory wide.
• Organise contract labour, holiday cover, shut down work and projects.
• Maintain and review safety instruction documentation for the engineering department.
• Decommission and strip out Interfloor's redundant sponge lines and process equipment.
• Spent 2 weeks in Foshan (China) commissioning and trouble-shooting Gooday Hardware's new PU plant, on behalf of Interfloor.

Responsibilities

• Reduced cycle times on various parts of the process by removing bottlenecks, reducing downtime and automating manual processes.
• Developed a waste recovery batch weighing system to dose granulated trim which would normally go to landfill, back into the manufacturing process. After implementation at full capacity, this achieved almost zero waste and cost savings of 30 pence per kilo used were calculated, equating to annual savings in excess of £0.55million.
• Part of the project team tasked to design and build Interfloor Haslingden's new PU line, which was designed built, installed and commissioned within the proposed eighteen month schedule.

• Supervise 3 transport staff and 30 hourly paid drivers as well as contractors.
• Manage departmental budgets, wages and ensure customer service levels are maintained.
• Ensure compliance with both company procedures and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities

• Initially tasked with managing and developing the changeover from NYK Logistics to Interfloor in-house logistics which involved moving out of satellite bases and restructuring transport and warehousing at the Haslingden site.
• Implementing a fully automated scheduling system Including real time telemetry across the fleet this enabled analysis and further cost reduction models for the business.
