I worked in the Bobby Robson Suite, where a mix of clients, including corporate groups, were served pre-game three course meals. My role involved:
Taking drink orders and serving these.
Serving the guests their chosen menus, ensuring they received their correct orders and paying particular attention to those guests with food allergies and restrictions.
Reacting quickly and professionally to additional requests or complaints from guests.
Checking regularly that guests were satisfied, without being too intrusive.
Making conversation (small talk) with guests when this was appropriate.
Setting the tables for the next sitting.
In addition to this, I worked overtime when it was needed and took on additional shifts at short notice. I managed a couple of difficult situations: on one occasion guests were acting inappropriately towards female staff members, including me. I kept calm and maintained my composure, and followed the workplace protocols. On another occasion when a guest was acting aggressively, I was able to diffuse the situation, again by keeping calm and maintaining my professional stance.
Ensured equipment was cleaned, replaced and ready for stylists.
Welcomed customers from the front desk and answered phone inquiries.
Prepared beverages and checked on customers to ensure they were comfortable and content.
Maintained a safe working environment by ensuring the hairdressing stations were clean and tidy and the floor swept.
Restocked product sales displays. Promoted the products to customers and made sales.
Used the cash register to take payments.
