Summary

I am a dedicated BA (Hons) Education Studies student at the University of Sunderland. I have a strong academic and personal focus on autism and neurodiversity. Through my tutoring experience and academic work, I have experience analysing, adapting, and communicating complex information. I am particularly interested in developing evidence-based approaches to autism support, with my undergraduate dissertation focusing on the under-identification of autism in girls. My own lived experience of autism makes me highly organised, analytical, and committed to producing clear, accessible and accurate information to support inclusive practice.

  • Outdoor activities have been a long-standing interest of mine, providing a perfect balance between physical fitness and mental benefits. Participating in outdoor activities has also strengthened my teamwork and leadership skills, as I was a mentor for young people in North Tyneside during my time in high school and sixth-form. This passion equips me with a proactive and adventurous mindset that I bring to my professional work.
  • Volunteering at Parkrun is an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing me to give back to the community while developing a range of valuable skills. As a regular volunteer, I have taken on various roles, which have strengthened my communication and teamwork skills, as collaborating with a diverse group of volunteers and participants is essential to the success of each event. My commitment to Parkrun reflects my dedication to promoting health and well-being, fostering a sense of community, and continually striving to make a positive impact.
  • I actively take on opportunities to contribute to mental health and eating disorder awareness through both volunteering and research-based initiatives. As a content creator and panel member with Beat Eating Disorders, I have been involved in creating and contributing to content that supports awareness, understanding and recovery. I have also taken part in research programmes focused on eating disorders, which has strengthened my ability to engage with and reflect on evidence and lived experience. Furthermore, I have organised charity initiatives, including hosting a charity run for BEAT.
