I recently retired from a 30 year career in the police. That work exposed me to a veritable cornucopia of experiences, good and bad! My last position was that of Custody Sergeant at Crawley Police Station where I was in charge of all detainees, staff and visitors to the custody suite,
My roles within the police have been many and varied over the years and have all been in front line work, including several years as a dog handler.
Prior to policing, I worked for Nationwide Building Society, starting as a cashier on leaving school and ending as a financial adviser.
On retiring, I tried some work in my local secondary school but found that it wasn't for me.
I volunteer as a Scout Leader with Buxted Scouts. I have been involved with the group since 2014 becoming a leader in 2016. I have taken part in many camps across the country and have driven the minibus for them - the advantage of having that D1 class on my licence!
I have completed several police driving courses which have allowed me to drive all vehicles, within my licence range, on blue lights to respond to emergencies This has given me confidence in handling larger vehicles on the road and manoeuvring them safely in more confined areas
I was also trained in emergency first aid
