This was a part time job I attended every day after school, Saturdays and during the school holidays. My main responsibilities were;
This job involves working in a very busy bakery environment where food hygiene and health and safety is very important. I was required to work as part of a team with the bakehouse staff as well as the shop staff to ensure that all cleaning duties are completed to a very high standard each day. I was also required to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure that all ingredients required for the night-shift was available in the correct locations to prevent delays during the night. I was required to communicate any issues to my manager for example if I encountered any issues with stock, or any problems with the equipment used as this may cause delays in producing the goods required for the next day. This job has given me knowledge of the basic food hygiene requirements and why they are very important in an industrial bakery. I use machinery and due to this I have learned the importance of following safety instructions and procedures to keep myself and others safe. I was required to take responsibility for keeping my uniform clean presentable.
During my time at Sabz Spice, I worked in a very busy kitchen environment every night. This required me to work quicky as part of a team to ensure that food orders were produced in time and that there was clean cutlery and crockery for the restaurant. My key responsibilities included, washing dishes, replenishing stock for the kitchen and cleaning the kitchen surfaces and floors. This job taught me how to cope in a very busy, hot kitchen environment. It also introduced me to the food hygiene requirements for a kitchen environment.
I was part of the Scottish Fire Service Youth Volunteer Scheme which is a 3 year programme for 13-18 year olds. This is based in Wick Fire Station and I attended once a week. We learned a range of drills and practices that introduce us to the work carried out by Scottish Fire Service on a daily basis. This has taught me discipline and the importance of communication between you and your team to ensure that everyone is kept safe in the fire ground. I completed the scheme in December 2022 when I turned 18
I also love to play guitar in my spare time. I love listening to music especially rock and indie music.
I enjoy keeping fit. I am member of the North Highland Harriers and have taken part in a number of races including 5k and 10k distances and I am also Part of The Robert Gordon's Athletics Club . I also enjoy going to the gym where I practise strength training three times a week.
