Ron Baturi

I started my journey with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars ltd as a paint shop apprentice. During the three year program, I worked in various departments inside the paint shop to get a full understanding of the steps required to go from a body in white shell to a fully painted piano finish car. After my apprenticeship, I was a offered a placement at Final Finish as a Spot Repairer. My role as a spot repairer was to rectify any paint defects on the car, such as chips, scratches, polish throughs, contamination in the paint and other various defects.

After completing my mechanical engineering course back in 2012, I started a cadet ship program up North to study Marine Electrical Engineering.

This is similar to an apprenticeship program where you study and learn about the role whilst gaining the required qualifications.

During the program, I was able to get aboard the vessels for numerous months to undertake various tasks associated with marine electronics. Jobs varied from changing light bulbs/fittings to trouble shooting electrical issues within the navigation systems onboard, all under the supervision of the ETOs (Electrical Technical Officer).
