I'm a very optimistic, ambitious and confident individual studying Business Management with Marketing at Edinburgh Napier. Holding a passion for marketing with a strong foundation in operational support. I strive to achieve goals and aims personally set by myself and the organisations I have worked for, through determination and hard work. I enjoy challenges which require me to use my creative thinking and enthusiastic personality even if they are complex and foreign to what I'm comfortable with. I strongly believe organisation is key to working effectively and efficiently in all types of environments, striving to be the best both individually and within groups.

  • During my short employment with Fireaway, I was able to build a crucial set of foundational skills, which I would use outside and during work.
  • Time management was crucial, the shop was small and had a limited amount of staff. In this context, I was required to carry out duties such as preparation of ingredients, e.g. toppings, fruits, dough, etc. These tasks needed to be completed within a set time, as delays would have negative impacts during busier periods, hindering efficiency.
  • As the store had just opened, initial promotions were set in place. I was tasked with setting up the decoration outside the shop and handing out leaflets with the menu, essentially advertising the shop.

  • Transitioning from a job role that had little customer interaction into one which emphasised their customer base was a large change. I was able to adapt to this new environment, come outside of my comfort zone, and use effective sales and promotional strategies to increase customer engagement.
  • I was fortunate enough to be involved in the visual merchandising of products within the shop. This role tasked me to manage the placement of products, consisting of promotions and best sellers.
  • Through my journey with the company, I was able to learn and observe customer behaviours, which was a valuable learning point that captivated me. Seeing how consumers would respond to different types of stimuli (product placement and promotions).

  • Fortunately involved with digital marketing strategies by providing innovative content ideas for posters, which were to be put up in windows for a promotion regarding discounts for University students.
  • I was able to transfer the skills I had built up from my previous role and implement them, as this job required me to carry out customer service and kitchen roles. Multitasking and organisational skills were crucial to working effectively.
  • I developed my presentation skills whilst working for them as I paid more attention to details which customers would notice such as order and placement of toppings on the desserts such as waffles and crepes.

  • I developed strong customer service and communication skills, as I have been required to learn all roles in the shop, whether that may be a cashier or in the kitchen. Understanding the needs of customers and clearly communicating a solution for their needs required me to use problem-solving skills when there were complaints.

  • When working at the front of the store (customer service), time management and multitasking were key to maintaining a satisfactory experience for customers; this would cover a factor such as how quickly they received their food.
  • Understanding consumer behaviour was another key skill I was able to develop after experiencing and gaining knowledge of consumer preferences, which allowed me to provide a more enjoyable experience for them.
  • I was given feedback and data on my performances across a few months, through key performance indicators, and surveys.
