Roisin Meleady-White

First Officer
4 Skye Edge Road, Sheffield

Summary

I am a determined, driven and flexible individual who is constantly looking to develop myself further. From the age of 18 and attending a trial flight I knew that becoming a pilot was what I truly wanted to do. As much as I love flying I have other interests too including music where I started the violin at aged 4 and from a young age I was always disciplined in whatever I put my mind to and also liked the aspect of feedback on how to further better myself. It then led onto playing the piano, organ and also sing where I joined orchestras and other groups where I enjoyed working as a team and supporting those around me.

As well as music I enjoy the outdoors and fitness where I attend the gym at least 3 times a week and attend classes with structure and likeminded people. I believe it is important to not only challenge yourself mentally but physically as well to ensure good health all round.

Work History

First Officer

EasyJet
02.2024 - Current
  • Company Overview: Operate the Airbus A320 at easyJet based at Birmingham airport as second in command.
  • Maintain strict adherence to SOPs, ensuring a consistent level of service and flight safety to the operation.
  • Assisted in achieving fuel efficiency and targets such as flap 3 landings if it is suitable through optimal flight planning before arriving at the aircraft.
  • I like to push myself where appropriate in developing my skills as a pilot by flying to unfamiliar airports with more complex approaches as well as maximum crosswind landings for a first officer.
  • Where I have the time further increased my knowledge by asking questions about the A320 and read the manuals provided.
  • Excluding adherence to SOP's and providing safe and efficient flying I am passionate about turning up to work looking professional and tidy with a smile on my face to ensure the passengers have the best experience I can provide them, whether it be saying hello and goodbye as they get on and leave, provide flight deck visits for those that are interested or even informative PA's. I feel it is important to provide a friendly service in which the customer will want to return to the company.

Administrative Assistant

KK Global Ltd
08.2016 - 02.2024
  • Company Overview: KK Global Ltd is a professional services company involved in preparing assessments and reports in the medico-legal field for Local Authorities and Hospitals.
  • I had to carry out administrative duties like diary management, booking assessments, meeting deadlines, filing and book-keeping as well as sorting out the invoices.
  • As I had to deal with a number of senior officers and doctors, I developed confidence in my communication and organisational abilities.

Site Manager

NHS Covid Test & Trace Sites
07.2020 - 10.2021
  • Company Overview: Covid Test Sites were a major part of the Government Public Health Plan to rapidly identify people both symptomatic and close contacts of people who may be infected with Covid.
  • I started off as a staff member and then got promoted to supervisor and then to Site Manager, as my Manager who was leaving put me forward to do his role.
  • I was leading a team of 40 agency staff and I had overall responsibility for the operation and functioning of the Test site, participate in Daily Operational Feedback with Headquarters, prepare for Site Inspections, meet Compliance and Regulatory requirements including Health & Safety, Incident reporting, Manage Testing and associated Inventory, organise staffing patterns based on demand, liaise with Regional Team for additional staffing, submission of staff time sheets, overtime payments, sickness reporting etc.I also had to liaise with Police and Site Security as the site was targeted by antisocial groups from time to time
  • This job increased my self-confidence and helped me mature quickly in the work environment and develop a number of transferable skills
  • It also taught me how to lead, motivate manage a large team of people from diverse backgrounds, use checklists, develop systems and processes, make quick decisions based on rapidly changing operational requirements and changes in protocols.

Foodbank Volunteer

Food Bank
01.2020 - 01.2021
  • I started volunteering at a Food Bank in Sheffield during Lockdown as I wanted to contribute to my community during the Pandemic, as I understood that there would be a large number of vulnerable people who were self-isolating and unable to get their basic needs met and we all have a duty to care for one another.
  • It involved lifting heavy loads, as well as making sure I created the right amount of food parcels for the vast number of people, so organisation and fairness was key.
  • I absolutely loved this as I was able to help people and give back to the Community and also create my own method of managing this process.
  • I also had to consider Health & Safety for everyone I came in to contact with, at that time, particularly the elderly and people who are immuno-compromised.

Christmas Markets Staff

Chatsworth House
11.2018 - 12.2018
  • I helped with organising the car parking as well as guiding customers with directions and providing information with regards to the market.
  • I found this job extremely useful as it developed me as a person in dealing with the public and on how to deal with complaints and handle them appropriately.
  • Sometimes I found this job challenging as we were working outside all day in difficult weather conditions however, I am not a person who likes to complain, and I get on with my work and tasks given in a positive manner.

Teaching Assistant

Tinsley Meadows School
01.2017 - 01.2018
  • As part of my structured Volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Scheme, I worked as a Teaching Assistant every Wednesday afternoon during Sixth Form which was extremely rewarding, as a number of these children had additional needs and I had to use different approaches to communicate, engage and teach them.
