Robert Nilsen

I have been with TUI Airways since I joined Britannia Airways in 1988 after a year long CAA approved CPL course. I joined on the 737-200 which I flew for just over 5 years.

I then transitioned to the 757/767 for the next 20 years. This was a mixture of both short and long haul and my introduction to ETOPS and worldwide flying. I gained my command in 2003 on these aircraft.

I was selected during this time to operate 2 VIP flights on the 757 for TCS, a VIP tour operator with up to 80 VIP passengers. I operated an around the World trip and another which took in Eastern Europe and the Middle East where there was constant interaction with the passengers. These trips were a great example of the can do attitude and teamwork to unfamiliar airfields that were all operated to the high safety standards and procedures of these flights.

I then moved onto the 787 which I started to fly in 2014. This highly developed aircraft with its high automation and advanced avionics was a sheer pleasure to fly around the world.

I have always worked and strived to get to a high standard of teamwork to get the job done safely and efficiently
