I have been working within the motor trade since i started as a "Saturday boy" at 13 years old. I have always set myself goals which I wanted to achieve along the way. I always wanted to be a mechanic at a very young age, my love of vehicles is embedded deep within me. Every angle of the trade I wanted to explore as gained more confidence and experience. Early on I realised into my carrier path, many are happy just staying in certain positions and not evolving. This is not me, once I completed my level 3 apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle my passion was to learn Vehicle body repair and refinishing, I wanted to be the full package ...being able to work on all vehicles, carry out any repair to the highest possible level was my goal and i made sure i succeeded. This led me to having my own body repair centre and eventually selling the business to further my carrier in Teaching Motor Vehicle at Suffolk collage. Teaching for me was privilege to pass on some of my knowledge to other young students. Doing this job, I learnt so much about communication and interaction with people. everyone has different learning styles and quickly through teacher training I identified some of my own personal learning problems which helped me professionally to move forward. I purely left teaching due to my young age and I was scared to be left behind by the constantly evolving trade. Being a Master technician opened the door at so many levels in a main dealership. Dealing with pip's and recalls, customer leasing and staff supervision this made me want to do higher management. Managing my own body repair business and dealing with insurance companies in the past set me up in good stead. Managing a main dealership, I know would be a changing role on a whole new level. Once that door finally opened for me, I have never looked back……
