Working as a HGV 1 Driver on the Co-op contract for the past twenty one years delivering Chilled, Frozen and Ambient cages to over eight hundred stores covering the South West, Midlands, South Coast and South / West and Mid Wales .

Driving vehicles from the works van up to and including 44Tonne double decker trailers. Daily tasks which included checking the route and paper work were correct, checking the Vehicle and trailer were loaded safely and were with in the safe systems at work and H&S legislation as well as checking the vehicle and trailer are fit and legal to preform the daily task.

Having to have good communication skills when dealing with the customer, general public and the transport office if any issues which might arise throughout the day.

Being able to work on your own as well as with in a team environment provide a smooth and professional service to the customer and caring about the company's name and reputation at all times.

Bing able to assess any possible hazards and situations when driving or unloading and being able to do dynamic risk assessments as and when need throughout the day

I was expected to keep my vehicle road worthy, secure and clean to a high standard and showing a very high of level of professionalism and responsibility when representing the company.

Working within a small shift team to load aircraft food carts and duty free items onto a 7.5 Tonne vehicles ready to deliver to any planed waiting aircraft.

Driving onto the controlled and restricted airside unloading used water containers, food carts and waist then replacing them with fresh stock to the Galley as well as communicating with the aircraft staff assisting in the smooth running of the service and not delaying time slots for the aircraft.

I was responsible for the daily checks to the loading vehicle making sure it was safe and legal to use on the public highway and on the airside of the airport and completing all relevant paperwork.

Working within a bonded warehouse to assist loading of duty free items for outbound flights and assisting in daily stock checks.

I Joined the Royal Air Force as a Mechanical Transport Driver. throughout my service I was trained to use anything from small cars, large busses, HGV vehicles and specialist vehicles such as Fuel tankers, K Loaders and Atlas aircraft loading vehicles plus specialist off road vehicles.

I had to plan my runs and keep within the time scale requested, load my vehicle making sure daily checks were done so the vehicles and loads were safe and complying with all regulations.

I had to work as an individual using my initiative at times and as part of a team, which ever the task needed to solve any possible situations that arose. I was trained to use different weapons and techniques as well as good communications skill to relay instructions, information and situation reports to team members as well as further up the chain of command for any possible action. I served all over the UK, Europe and the Middle East seeing active service in the Middle East and being presented with awards for my conduct and service.

I gained a lot of experience in other cultures, languages and learnt how to approach situations from other directions which has given me the ability and understanding and to apply these positives to my daily tasks. I was trained to be self reliant, honest, reliable and compassionate with high moral standards and committed to the task in hand which I have applied with other life skills to improve and enhance my abilities going forward.
