Rev. Mark Prentice

Ipswich,Suffolk

Summary

My ongoing ministerial development has lead to research in teaching Systematics, and to Sabbatical study in discipleship formation in the Patristic era. I have sought to rehabilitate the Catechumenate for a contemporary context, developing the Discipleship Training Programme, and the Suffolk Training Ground in partnership with other local Churches.

With over 25 years of ministerial experience in a variety of contexts, I am a skilled communicator, able to develop and embed vision, and instil a culture of spiritual growth and development. I am a proficient manager of both paid staff and volunteers, and have a proven track record of initiative in community projects, mission and evangelism; in encouraging vocations; and in effective preaching and teaching.

I have contributed to the wider life of the Church, and most recently was founding Chair of the Eds & Ips Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship.

Work history

Incumbent (Senior Pastor)

St. John the Baptist with St. Andrew (MIE)
Ipswich, Suffolk
07.2013 - Current

I oversee two congregations in what is now a single parish. My responsibilities focus on preaching and teaching the Word of God in a variety of settings, leading in worship, sacrament and prayer. I chair the PCC, manage a ministry and staff team, and support structures of mission and outreach. I do the work of an evangelist and support others in their own evangelism. I am a Governor at a local CofE primary School, as well as being involved in several other schools in our community.

Senior Associate Minister (Clubhouse)

All Souls, Langham Place
London
01.2004 - 07.2013

The All Souls Clubhouse ran a number of evangelistic community based outreach projects, and over the years a Community Church was planted. I managed the senior staff team and pastored the Church.

I also ran the CITI Scheme, allowing those from All Souls exploring a call to ministry to gain experience, study Biblical theology and be supported through the process of selection for ordination.

As well as preaching regularly at the Clubhouse Church, I preached at All Souls, and as part of the ministry team was involved in leadership across a city centre Church.

Curacy,

Holy Trinity and St. Matthais, Tulse Hill
London
07.2000 - 01.2004

As Curate I began to learn about parochial ministry, to engage in Occasional Offices, and was responsible for overseeing youth work, preparing young people for Confirmation.

I split my 'parish' curacy with serving on the Chaplaincy team at HMP Brixton.
