Summary

I am a highly motivated 55 year old individual who has worked for 26 years in the Fire Service. I have undertaken numerous roles within the service from my initial role as a firefighter to advancing through the organisation to manage over one hundred staff within service departments.

Throughout my working life I have demonstrated professionalism in a demanding and dynamic environment. I have demonstrated a flexible attitude in the workplace, undertaking roles that involved 24/7 flexibility and response, attending numerous emergency incidents both nationally and internationally.

I thrive in a work place environment that requires interpersonal skills. I pride myself with my ability to communicate with both my work colleagues and customers with dignity , respect and professionalism.

  • 2023-2024 Station Manager responsible for management of four fire stations and 70 + personnel.
  • As operational station manager I was part of an on-call duty system providing twenty four hour operational response. I responded to multiple incident types as part of the incident Command System.
  • Deployed as a Tactical Advisor for Urban Search and rescue. Part of a trained number of personnel who attend building Collapse Incidents as part of a national response.
  • Manager and operational member of Fire Service International Search and Rescue Team. Attended operational incidents to earthquakes in Pakistan and Japan as part of Government response to natural disasters.
  • 2018-2023 Station manager responsible for management of specialist rescue training within Fire Service, National resilience resources within service trained to respond to national emergencies and managing commercial training contracts within service.
  • 2015-2018 Training Officer responsible for training and assessing operational firefighters in multiple skill sets.
  • 1998-2015 Operational fire fighter. Duties included responding to operational incidents, undertaking fire safety projects within the community and managing fire service personnel to ensure their operational competence.

  • Customer Service Experience - I was responsible for managing contracts with external customers at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Training Centre Responsible for meeting customer requirements and expectations and dealing with any issues that arose to satisfaction of both customer and our business
  • Interpersonal skills - During career have constantly demonstrated good interpersonal skills From managing the Human Resourcing of upwards 100 people to dealing with members of the public involved in traumatic and fast moving situations, I have dealt with people with dignity and respect whilst maintaining a professional manner and achieving the aims of objectives of the organisation I understand Equality, diversity and inclusion and have demonstrated my commitment to these values throughout my career
  • Work safely with experience of working to rules and regulations - All roles I undertook within the Fire Service involved working to strict rules and guidelines I was responsible for not only my own health and safety but also for the health and safety of both my managed personnel, other emergency services and the general public I have experience of creating and managing dynamic and analytical risk assessments and understand the value to the organisation of adhering to health and safety values
  • Flexibility - Throughout my career I have demonstrated a flexible attitude to my work I have been part of a workforce that is required to work 24/7 and work long shifts to deal with the incidents that we were faced with, for example major flooding incidents both within the county and nationally I have worked in all inclement weather conditions and have deployed nationally and internationally to emergency incidents at very short notice and deployed on these for a large number of days

Affiliations

  • Away from work I am actively involved in the local community. I have a son involved in the local football and cricket club and I assist in the running of these organisations. I am a safeguarding officer for the cricket club and have undertaken coaching qualifications to assist in training and managing the junior section. I am committed to my own health and welfare and undertake exercise on a regular basis. I have used this passion for exercise to raise funds for charities, including running ultra marathons for charitable causes. I enjoy being part of a team and the camaraderie that this creates so have recently taken up walking football.
