working along with a little 8 year old girl who has sustained numerous medical issues due to Brain tumour and medical procedures that ensued from treatment.
I currently work nights with the family and one day a week in school . Nights involve hourly observations oxygen when needed and monitoring the ventilator that she is on. Young girl has a tracheotomy and Gastrosomy which I am trained in. Night involved giving medication via peg / changing/ repositioning and getting ready for school in the morning and giving breakfast and water flushes through the peg . The day consists toiketing and feeding and being on hand to help with secrestiin/ suctioning/ tracheostomy care. Young girl is deaf and is currently in a main stream school which has a deaf unit where I am also learning BSL with her .I have qualified in level 1 BSL and currently doing level 2
Working in a family setting looking after a charming 8 year old boy suffering from cerebral palsy due to brain injury. Working 2 nights a week (13 hour shifts ) which involves settling and repositioning during the night and getting up washed and dressed for the school run in the morning and assisting mum on the school run .
