Work experience, Shadowing a Criminal Barrister

  • Blaine Nugent, of Ballynorthland Manor, Dungannon, allowed me to shadow his work in the courts for several weeks.
  • My role during this period of time was to shadow and gain knowledge on the way in which the court systems work and get in the mind of a criminal barrister.
  • I attended several courts, including the Omagh court, where Blaine was representing multiple driving offence cases.
  • It was interesting to watch how he spoke to the judge and how he interacted with the defendants behind closed doors.
  • This gave me a lot of insight into the world of being a criminal barrister and has only driven my aspirations of one day becoming a barrister myself.
