I am a mother of three children, my eldest son whom is 17 years old is autistic. This was a shock at first but turned out to be an interesting educational journey which has led me to pursue a career working with SEN children. As a parent I immersed myself in training courses and interacted with other parents to better understand ASD so I was equipped to give my son the best chance in life. As a Teaching assistant I have continued educate myself with various training courses and gained valuable experience along the way so I can support the children I work with and give them the best education they deserve. Working with children with SEN and observing them progress gives me great job satisfaction and gives me the fuel to strive and learn to do better. When the opportunity came up to work in the youth service I felt this was a opportunity to use my skills and experience in a different environment to help young people. I enjoy both roles but feel my talents are best targeted helping young people with SEN and this is where my passion lies. Thursdays I get the opportunity to work with young people with SEN for the youth service I feel I can have a real positive influence on there lives. Now my own children are older its the perfect time to pursue my career within Bexley council working full time with young people with SEN. I believe I can continue to help young people in a positive way whilst building on a career I truly enjoy.
Worked with team to keep lunchtime schedule on track.
