Current MChem Pharmaceutical Chemistry Undergraduate at the University of Leicester. I have now completed a year abroad conducting research at the University of Stuttgart in Germany. I am dedicated an diligent when working both independently and in a group environment.
Undertook an 11 month long project in the Laschat research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Stuttgart. My project concerned the ’synthesis and investigation of novel formazan derivatives’. During this time I was able to conduct independent research in a laboratory, where I improved my synthetic practical work and gained experience in analytical techniques such as polarisation optical microscopy, UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. I was also able to enhance my scientific writing and presentation skills among working PhD students. The majority of my experience consisted of the synthesis and characterisation of literature unknown compounds as well as the investigation of their chemical properties. I was able to appreciate the working atmosphere outside of the UK and embrace a different culture.
