During my voluntary and work experience both as an employee for Little People's Academy and most recently as a supply teaching assistant for a number of agencies (CER Education and Hays Education respectively), several of my duties involved record keeping; these took the form of updating student reading logs, updating progress reports for 1:1 learning support plans which involved liaising with the class teacher, parents and student, marking student exam papers, all of which involved organising, collating, and filing.
I also have experience writing up accident forms where necessary. I have utilised a range of different office supplies including printing, photocopying, laminating, and faxing to carry out these tasks, including the use of a guillotine to ensure a neat standard of work. Passing my English GCSE has been invaluable and has allowed me to effectively communicate.
In the case of working as an assistant for Little People's Academy, I have experience in planning sessions and keeping to a strict budget, and these skills are used in my voluntary work at 1st Thurstaston Scouts where I have planned, budgeted for, and ran multiple sessions of my own, using time, financial, resource and group management. I have recent administrative experience in that every Monday night I take attendance at Squirrels and log this into OSM.
Having achieved a Merit in my DiDA diploma (Equivalent to a B grade), I have proficiency in ICT and technical skills involving computers and software such as Microsoft Office, which is what I've used for any and all planning and record keeping, such as word processing, using databases and inputting data and data handling; these have been completed on several devices from Phones and iPads/Tablets to laptops and computers.
I'd say resilience is one of my best attributes, especially in my academics, an example of this would be when I overcame my dyscalculia to achieve a pass at GCSE Maths as a result of this experience, I have been able to draw upon my creativity and resourcefulness to problem solve; for example using my neurodivergence as a strength and being able to offer a new perspective which has served me well in my work and social life.
Overall I have acquired a varied and interesting spectrum of experience as a supply TA where my flexibility and calm enthusiasm have been an asset, and whilst I don't have any experience working at reception or within an office setting, I am a very quick learner and would work hard to make up for any lack of knowledge and/or skills including undertaking the necessary training for the role.
